Свою любовь к кантри Брэд унаследовал от дедушки по материнской линии, Warren Jarvis, который подарил ему его первую гитару в 8-летнем возрасте и научил играть на ней. В 12 лет Брэд написал свою 1-ю песню; в 13 лет впервые побывал на крупном концерте с участием кантри-звезд, таких как The Judds, Ricky Skaggs и George Jones, проходившем в Capital Music Hall в Wheeling, West Virginia.
